Customers were able to enjoy a free slice of cake in recognition of 14 years of trading for a monthly farmers’ market.
People in Higham Ferrers are able to buy a large selection of bread, pastries, olives, meat and plants at its regular farmers’ market on the Market Square each month.
But Saturday’s market was extra special as it was its 14th anniversary.
Higham Ferrers Town Council was keen to mark the occasion so town mayor Cllr Richard Gell was given the honour of cutting the celebratory cake before free slices were offered to shoppers.
The town holds a farmers’ market in the Market Square between 9am and 1pm on the last Saturday of each month except in December when it is moved to the last available Saturday before Christmas.
Anyone interested in having a stall at the market in the future can send an email to Danielle@highamferrers-tc.gov.uk.
