A group of football supporters approached the victim as they were working outside the store in Gold Street and asked for cigarettes.

A police spokesman said: “When they were not given cigarettes, they are said to have shouted racist language at the worker and two other employees inside the store, before leaving in the direction of The Peacock pub in Lower Street, Kettering.

“Detectives have today released this CCTV image of two men who may be able to help in the enquiry.”

Any witnesses to this incident, which took place between 6.20pm and 6.30pm on Thursday, June 16, are asked to call Northamptonshire Police on 101 or ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
