A Wellingborough charity has been shortlisted for a community grant.
Northamptonshire Carers has been shortlisted for the Lloyds Bank Community Fund 2013, and is asking the public to vote for it to give it a chance to be awarded a £3,000 grant from Lloyds Bank to enable it to continue doing good work in the community.
Northamptonshire Carers is an organisation set up in 1993 that supports more than 5,000 adult and young carers. In the UK one in eight of the population is a carer, and over a million of those care for someone for more than 50 hours a week. Carers are twice as likely to suffer ill health and more than 40 per cent are at risk of depression because of their caring role. Numbers are rising as the county population grows rapidly. This money would fund Carers Respite Pamper Days offering a day to themselves using fitness facilities at Nuffield Health and a chosen treatment. Carers leave refreshed, more able to cope, feeling someone cares about them and their wellbeing. Carers who come along to a day like this have shown proven improvement in emotional and physical health, ability to relax and sleep.
Mark Major, Northamptonshire Carers Director, said: “The Lloyds Bank Community Fund will make a huge difference to Northamptonshire Carers by allowing us to run more pamper days in Wellingborough for carers which we know improves their health and wellbeing, enabling them to continue in their caring role. Please vote for Northamptonshire Carers to benefit from the Community Fund award.”
The Lloyds Bank Community Fund is helping people have a positive impact at the hearts of their communities by giving grants to over 1,300 good causes in villages, towns and cities across England and Wales. There are four local good causes in each community and each will receive an award. Two local good causes from each community will receive £3,000 each, with the other two receiving awards of £300 each.
