Cash boost of £50,000 to improve science facilities at Sir Christopher Hatton Academy in Wellingborough

Staff and pupils at Sir Christopher Hatton Academy are delighted to have been awarded £30,000 from the Wolfson Foundation and £20,000 from the Ogden Trust to develop its science facilities.

The funding has been awarded following the Wolfson Foundation’s rigorous independent expert review and is in recognition of the academy’s hard work.

Nick Salisbury, head of science at the school in Wellingborough, said: “The development of the physics centre of excellence will enhance the teaching and learning of science for all students at Sir Christopher Hatton Academy and increase their opportunities and prospects later in life.”

Executive principal Victoria Bishop congratulated the ‘outstanding science department’ and added: “This financial reward will make a big difference to our students’ teaching and learning.”

The Wolfson Foundation is an independent charity which supports and promotes excellence in the fields of science, health, education and the arts, and all awards are given on the basis of expert review.
