Seven teams of six ringers rang in succession so that two expert ringers from the Coventry Diocese could count the faults in the desired rhythm.

One of the two teams from Rothwell were judged to have won with just 10 faults.

The Rushden team was runner-up with 12 and-a-half faults.

The judges presented the John Weaver shield to Murray Coleman from the winning team.
