Caller mistakes moon's glow for fire in Kettering

A confused 999 caller mistook the glow of the moon for a fire near a Kettering hotel last night (Tuesday).

They thought they had spotted a fire in a field near the hotel - only for the fire service’s watch manager to determine it was the glow of the moon.

A Northants Fire spokesman said: “At 11.07pm we received a call from someone who was staying at the Holiday Inn who thought there was a fire in a nearby field.

“The watch manager spoke to the caller and determined that it was the glow of the moon.”
