Onwards and upwards for family business

A family business established more than 75 years ago is celebrating moving to bigger premises.

Cyclomarket, originally Cunnington’s, began in Corby Old Village in 1935 and has just moved to Alpha Court in the town, and celebrated with a special promotional week.

Derek Ritchie bought the business in 1986 and has taken it from strength to strength. What was once a small, local ironmongers is now a national industrial and engineering supply company that supplies both trade and retail products. It has now moved to a new site just off Phoenix Parkway.

Mr Ritchie said: “This move is a fantastic achievement for Cyclomarket and will allow us to continue our growth with the aim of my children taking the reins and developing the business over the coming years.”

Mr Ritchie’s three children are involved in the business in various roles.

His youngest son Andrew has worked for the company since 2005 and is now the sales director.

Sarah Ritchie, who has worked for the company since leaving school in 1997 and is now financial director, thanked the firm’s customers for their “loyal and continued support, without which the move to Alpha Court wouldn’t have been possible”.

During the promotional week, customers who spent over £100 in any transaction were entered into a prize draw to win an Apple iPad worth over £400. To contact the company, call 01536 205904.
