Bus station car park may shut

The car park above the dilapidated Greyfriars bus station in the centre of Northampton faces closure over fears the building could only last five more years.

The 300-space car park was temporarily closed in June 2007 after chemicals were leaking through the building's roof and damaging parked cars.

After discovering the car park could need investment of up to 250,000 to reopen, Northampton Council suggested it should be closed for good.

The council wants to knock down the bus station so it can be replaced by an extended Grosvenor Centre.
