Burt Reynolds' and Judy Carne's wedding album among lots for sale at Northamptonshire auction
Judy Carne made her name on stage and television screens in this country before going on to stardom in America in Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In alongside Goldie Hawn in the 1960s.
Judy, who died last September, grew up in Kingsthorpe, Northamptonshire, and exhibited talent as a performer from an early age. After training at the Bush Davies Theatrical School for Girls at East Grinstead, she made both her West End and TV debuts in 1961. As a regular guest on the panel show Juke Box jury and a role in the Rag-trade, Judy became a celebrity and also landed her first role in a feature film, A Pair of Briefs.

Hide AdHer career gathered momentum and Judy left for America. Her comical persona as the ‘Sock It To Me’ girl on the hit US television show, Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In made Judy one of the best known personalities of her generation.
The success of Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In led to further appearances in other Iconic 1960s TV shows, including The Man from U.N.C.L.E. In 1963 she married Burt Reynolds and throughout the 1960s she had been romantically linked with stars such as Vidal Sassoon, Steve McQueen and Warren Beatty.
Judy eventually returned to the UK and retired to Northamptonshire, where she lived a quiet life in Pitsford until her death at the age of 76.
J P Humbert Auctioneers Ltd of Towcester are offering ‘The Judy Carne Collection’ in their sale on Thursday, February 4.

Hide AdItems included in the collection are the 1963 wedding album of Burt Reynolds and Judy Carne together with a wedding invitation; an original NBC 8mm film reel of the 1963 ‘Bonanza’ episode “Question of strength” together with other reels, including two of CBS’1962 Fair Exchange (a TV show that replaced the Twilight Zone); two sets of Donfeld theatrical costume designs for Judy from the 1960s; a selection of publicity and other photographs of Judy Carne; her personal portfolio including two scripts for TV shows as well other biographical material and scrap books about her career.
These are all to be offered without reserve on February 4, at J P Humbert Auctioneers Ltd of Towcester.
