BREAKING NEWS: Multi-vehicle crash involving three lorries closes M1 in Northamptonshire

There are severe delays on the M1 in Northamptonshire this afternoon following a crash involving three lorries.

Northamptonshire Police confirmed that they were called to the crash at 10.35am where three lorries had been involved in a collision between junction 16 and 17 northbound.

The road was closed between the two junctions while emergency services released one of the drivers who was trapped.

Two lanes of the motorway have since reopened.

There is a diversion in operation with motorists being advised to travel on the A45 to Weedon and then the A5 to Crick where they can rejoin the M1 at junction 18.

There is congestion back to junction 15a.

A spokesman for Northamptonshire Police said: “It is very busy and we are advising drivers to avoid the area and find alternative routes.”
