The director of a hair salon in Rothwell has spoken of her shock after a burglary in which a number of stylers and hairdryers were stolen.

The break-in, at John Newman Hair and Beauty Salon in Bridge Street, took place on Tuesday, October 28, some time between 2am and 2.30am.

Police released details of the incident this morning (Wednesday, November 5).

The offender or offenders broke in at the back of the salon, which activated the intruder alarm. They stole a number of GHD stylers and hairdryers and then left the property. It is believed they used a vehicle to get away.

Salon director Shirley Newman has appealed for help tracing those who broke in, and asked for anyone offered GHD products to inform police.

She said: “It was a shock to find out someone had been in the salon and makes you feel very vulnerable.

“We try to help our community, we have fantastic support and generally the community is very close-knit and helpful to one another. It is just a few that makes a small town like ours feel under siege by burglaries.

“Someone must know something, and if anyone does please contact the police with any information.

“We need to put a stop to this type of theft and the misery and worry it also causes to the ageing citizens within our community.”

Officers are appealing for anyone who saw or heard any suspicious activity in the area around the time of the burglary to contact them. Anyone offered GHD hair styling products for sale is also asked to call police.

Witnesses, or anyone with information, are asked to call Northamptonshire Police on 101. Alternatively, they can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
