A pupil was injured after being pushed to the ground by a member of the public as he walked to school.
The 12-year-old boy was walking to Wrenn School in Wellingborough at about 9am today (Wednesday) when the assault took place.
The victim was with a group of friends in Broadway near to the junction with The Drive and accidentally bumped into a man.
A police spokesman said the man, in his 30s, then became aggressive, grabbed the youngster and pushed him to the ground.
The spokesman, who said the boy injured his wrist in the incident, added: “This was a nasty assault on a vulnerable child.”
The man is described as white, bald, and he was wearing black sunglasses, a baseball cap and blue bodywarmer.
Any witnesses to the assault are asked to call Northamptonshire Police on 101.
