A motorcyclist suffered serious injuries in a crash on the A427 between Weldon and Oundle.

The A427 at Lower Benefield was closed following the serious accident at about 10.20am on Thursday.

A police spokesman said a car and a motorbike were involved in the crash.

The driver of the car was uninjured, but the 64-year-old male motorcyclist was airlifted to hospital for treatment.

The road was closed for a short time to allow the air ambulance to land and clear the scene.

A spokesman for the Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland Air Ambulance said: “A 64-year old male was seriously injured when his motorcycle collided with a car.

“DLRAA received the call at 10.25am and landed at the scene of the incident 20 minutes later.

“The patient had sustained serious lower limb injuries.

“He was given advanced pain relief by DLRAA doctors and paramedics before being airlifted to University Hospitals Coventry & Warwickshire for further treatment.”
