Big plans debated by county councillors

Northamptonshire County Council has approved plans for a limestone quarry at Ringstead.

This means 1.95m tonnes of limestone can be extracted and 1.1m tonnes of inert material imported for infilling over 15 years.

The council also discussed plans by East Northants Waste Resource Management Facility in King’s Cliffe to increase the amount of hazardous waste it takes to 150,000 tonnes a year. The council said it could see villagers’ concerns but added the site provides a nationally significant waste site. The decision will be taken by the Government. A preliminary meeting will be held tomorrow, July 26.
