A cheesemonger at Kettering’s Morrisons store has been named the big cheese at the supermarket chain’s annual Mastercraft competition.
Vikki Stafford, who has worked at the store for eight years, scooped the top prize at the award event, which took place in Yorkshire.
She was tested on her knowledge of regional cheeses, her aptitude to grade and sort cheese and her ability to produce a cheeseboard and a cheese display.
Vikki wowed the judges and was awarded top marks from the judges before being presented with her trophy.
She said: “I’m so proud to have won the competition.
“Not many people realise that myself and the team on the deli are trained cheesemongers and know a lot about cheeses and how to pair them with other foods so it’s great to achieve some recognition for this.
“I think it was my cheese display and knowledge of regional cheeses which impressed the judges.”
Vikki will now be entered into the ‘People’s Champion’ category where the public can vote for their favourite Morrisons specialist. He is up against winners from the seven other categories.
