The friends groups in Corby are looking for volunteers to help with woodland projects.

As a member of one of the groups people can get involved with coppicing, planting, litter-picking and helping out at events.

Corby has friends groups for Thoroughsale and Hazel Wood, Coronation Park, East Carlton Country Park, Kingswood Local Nature Reserve and West Glebe Park.

Volunteers are also needed at East Carlton Country Park’s Foxy Woodland Shop which sells items carved from Corby’s woodlands.

Corby Council’s lead member for environment, Cllr Paul Beattie, said: “Corby’s friends groups are a real asset to the borough for all of the work the dedicated volunteers put into making sure our green spaces are maintained.

“Being a member of any of our groups or part of Foxy’s Woodland Shop is a great way to spend time outdoors, meet new people, keep active and make sure residents are always in a safe and friendly environment when walking through the woodlands and parks.”

Volunteers can give up as many hours as the want to. For more information call woodlands manager Rebecca Bishop on 01536 464019.
