An aspiring model from Barton Seagrave says she has mixed feelings over her time as one of the stars of a new MTV reality show.
Frankie Thorpe, 19, has been appearing on the show Ex on the Beach, in which single people are surprised by being reunited with former partners on the beach holiday set-up.
Frankie, a former pupil at Brooke Weston Academy in Corby, was reintroduced to her ex Marco Alexandre.
She said: “He was surprised. It was nice to see him, I just don’t think it was the right environment for us to be in.
“It was eventful. There’s a lot that happened, both good and bad, but that’s life. It was a great experience.”
Frankie’s time on the show came to an end last week because of medical reasons. The series was filmed last year, and she said she has since recovered.
She and Marco, from Sheffield, are no longer an item.
She added: “There’s a lot of drama. We all got asked to go on dates with each other. I ended up getting back with him out there.”
Last weekend, Frankie took part in a celebrity football tournament at the Valley, home of championship club Charlton Athletic.
She lined up alongside stars including singers Olly Murs (left) and James Arthur.
She said that opportunity allowed her to get rid of some negative perceptions of her which had come across on the show.
She added: “I’ve been portrayed as a villain. It was nice to mingle with people and let them see what I am like in real life.
“It was a brilliant experience. It was lovely to meet all the fans. Our captain was Bianca Gascoigne – we got on really well. We have got a couple of nights out planned.”
Frankie said she now intends to spend a season working abroad as well as continuing to look for modelling opportunities.
And she said her time on Ex on the Beach had been worth it, adding: “It’s given me a platform. It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Things like that don’t just pop around the corner.”
