People who are interested in purchasing homes being built on the site of an Iron Age village have been encouraged to register their interest in the properties.

Developer Redrow has outline planning permission to build up to 450 homes on a 54-acre site off Polwell Lane in Barton Seagrave. The application for the first phase of 122 homes has already been approved, with building work under way.

The first properties are due to be released for sale at the end of March, and Redrow has urged people to sign up to find out more about the homes.

Tonia Tyler, head of sales for Redrow Homes in the the region, said: “Archaeologists established that people lived in this part of Barton Seagrave during the Middle Iron Age, circa 400BC to 100BC.

“The new development of homes will feature designs from our sought-after New Heritage Collection, which combine the traditional character of period properties along with the style and convenience of being brand new.”

Redrow has also committed to investing £6 million in the local area, with plans said to include a new community centre, contributions towards highways improvements, provision of open space, allotments and public transport.
