Band’s mission to play movie tunes

A BAND will play songs from the movies at its anniversary concert this week.

The Rushden Mission Band will hold the event at 7.30pm tomorrow at the Mission Church, Wellingborough Road, Rushden.

The theme will be Marching with the Movies.

Music which will be performed will include songs from the Lion King, Singing in the Rain, March of the Cobblers, Pirates of the Caribbean, New Colonial March and more.

Ticket are £5 for adults, £4 concessions, and are available on the door. Tickets can also be booked in advance by calling 07764 949372.

The Rushden Mission Band is currently being conducted by its trombone player Tony Boddington while members search for a permanent replacement. Its former conductor Roger Dear retired in February.

Band member Beverley Sanders said: “If anyone is interested in the position of conductor we would very much like to hear from them.”
