The court heard how Munn is alleged to have travelled to Grendon where he attacked his former partner at her home in Main Road. The court was told how he hit her over the head three times and then left the scene.
The attack happened on Wednesday evening and Munn, of Abbs Cross Gardens, Hornchurch, Essex, was arrested yesterday (Thursday) evening following a police appeal.
No application for bail was made and Munn was remanded in custody to await a crown court hearing next month.
