Arthur Hollomon, the consort of former Rushden mayor Marian Hollomon, has taken the plunge down the Express Lift Tower in Northampton to raise cash for charity.
Mr Hollomon abseiled down the tower on Sunday, May 11, to raise funds for Rushden Mind’s new building, Phoenix House.
Mr Hollomon raised more than £1,000 for the charity.
He said: “I’m absolutely delighted.
“I didn’t expect to raise so much money.
“What started off as a bit of a giggle has turned into a fantastic fundraiser.
“I can’t say thank you enough to all the people who have sponsored me for the abseil.
“I had an exhilarating experience and raised a few shilling as well, which is great.”
Mr Hollomon said the money will be a ‘tremendous help’ to the charity.
He added that he enjoyed the experience abseiling down the 418ft tower.
