Armed officers were called and roads closed off to deal with an incident near a school in Kettering.

Police went out to West Glebe Road in the town after reports that a man had ‘put himself in danger’ at 2.15pm today (Friday).

A number of roads were closed off, including Briar Road, Almond Road and Weekley Glebe Road, and the gates of Buccleuch Academy were closed as a precaution.

But a police spokesman said: “No members of the public were in danger at any time.”

The spokesman said the incident had now been dealt with and the roads re-opened about an hour later at 3.15pm.
