A couple were threatened in their home by masked raiders carrying knives during a violent burglary.
Police are appealing for information following the aggravated burglary at a house in Spinney Drive, Collingtree, Northampton, on Tuesday night, January 1.
A man and a woman were at their home in Spinney Drive when three men, all wearing balaclavas, entered the property at around 8.15pm.
The men were carrying at least two knives between them - they threatened the woman, who was in the kitchen, and forced the man onto the floor of the lounge.
Both the man and woman were tied up and the woman sustained a minor injury to her arm.
The men demanded money and jewellery and carried out a full search of the house - they left the property having stolen mobile phones, tablet computers and jewellery.
The man managed to free himself quickly and ran out into the street where he spotted a small hatchback car - possibly dark blue in colour - emerging from Barn Corner.
This car then turned right into the High Street and left into Watering Lane, the road which leads from the village to the A45 dual carriageway.
Sergeant Jo Fletcher, of Northampton CID, said: “We can’t be sure that this car was linked with the aggravated burglary but we certainly need to establish whether it can be ruled out of our enquiries.
“I would ask anyone with any information about this car - seen in the High Street area between 8.15pm and 8.30pm - to come forward.
“I would also like to hear from anyone who has information about three men acting suspiciously in the vicinity of High Street, Collingtree yesterday evening.
“They may have entered the property by walking along High Street and then through a side gate but it is more likely that they got into the house via the back door after scaling a wall to the rear of the village church.”
Witnesses to this incident, or anyone with information, should call Northamptonshire Police on 101 - alternatively, information can be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
