A lorry stuck under the railway bridge in Rothwell Road has finally been released - but it may be some time before the road reopens.
The McBurney Transport HGV has been stuck under the low bridge for several hours, causing tailbacks on surrounding roads, which is being exacerbated by the closed Northfield Avenue.
Despite many warnings on the bridge, several vehicles each year still get stuck on the road.
It is believed the driver had a warning of the cab height inside the vehicle - but the trailer was higher than the cab.
Damage to the top of the vehicle as it reversed out, after the driver let the tyres down, at about 1pm today. There was no visible damage to the bridge but railway engineers had to do a full assessment before declaring it safe.
Trains passed along the bridge while the vehicle was stuck, but only at very low speeds.
