There has been a significant fall in unemployment in the north of the county, according to latest figures from the Office for National Statistics.

A total of 6,572 claimed JSA in September 2013, compared to 7,283 the previous month and 7,993 in September 2012.

In East Northants in September, the JSA claimant rate fell to 2.3 per cent – a fall since August’s figure of 2.5 per cent.

In Kettering the rate dipped from 3.5 per cent to 3.1 per cent while in Wellingborough it fell from 4.2 per cent to 3.8 per cent.

Corby saw the biggest fall, from 4.5 per cent in August to 4.0 per cent in September.
