If so, people are being invited to put forward anyone they think should be the recipient of this year’s Susan Hollowell Memorial Trophy.

The annual awards are organised by the Rushden-based charity Serve in memory of Susan Hollowell, who died in 2002 at the age of 63.

She was a committed volunteer in the town and chairman of Northamptonshire and Rushden Age Concern, with this award being set up in her name as a tribute to her.

She also helped to set up Serve, which supports older people in the Rushden and surrounding area.

Last year’s award fittingly went to Susan’s daughter, Sarah Peacock.

Her voluntary work over the years has included leading the Over 60s Housemartins Club in Rushden and chairing the board of governors at Whitefriars Infants School and the group which set up the town’s museum.

In 1999 she was elected to East Northants Council, becoming its chairman in 2009/10.

She has also been involved with the setting up of the Greenway pathways for walkers and cyclists and, as leader of Rushden Town Council, was part of the successful campaign for the Rushden Lakes development which included securing a footbridge over the A45 to link the scheme with the town.

She has also been invoved with Spire Homes, the annual Sing with Serve carol concerts and the Rotary Club.

The winner of this year’s award will be announced at the annual Sing for Serve carol concert at Park Road Baptist Church, Rushden, between 2pm and 4pm on Tuesday, December 6.
