A priest has appointed to be the new rector of Ss Peter and Paul with St Michael and All Angels parish in Kettering town centre.
The Reverend Canon Andrew Hutchinson accepted the Bishop of Peterborough’s invitation after interviews with parish representatives and the church’s patron James Saunders Watson.
Ordained in 1989, Mr Hutchinson has served in the diocese of Blackburn, Lichfield, Hereford and Birmingham, where he is currently both chaplain to Solihull School and a team member in the parish of St Alphege in Solihull.
Mr Hutchinson said: “I am tremendously excited and humbled about sharing the ministry of the two churches, wider community and Diocese of Peterborough.
“I would particularly like to thank everyone for their prayers, loving support and kindness in appointing me as Rector.”
He added: “I am truly grateful to you all and thank God for this wonderful opportunity to serve in such a vibrant and lovely place.”
The previous vicar, the Reverend Dominic Barrington left Ss Peter and Paul Church with St Michael and All Angels in June 2015
Mr Barrington, who had been in charge of the parish in Kettering for 12 years, now works in the USA as Dean of the Cathedral Church in Chicago.
Mr Hutchinson will be instituted into the parish by the Bishop of Peterborough Donald Allister at a special service Ss Peter and Paul, Sheep Street at 3pm on Saturday, March 19.
