Amazon delivers cash boost of £2,000 for Corby's Home-Start charity
The Corby branch of a national family support charity has received a £2,000 donation from Amazon in time for Christmas.
Staff and volunteers at Home-Start in Corby received the special delivery from the team at the fulfilment centre in Peterborough as part of Amazon’s local community support programme.
Home-Start works with vulnerable families in Corby and the surrounding areas, providing practical aid and emotional support through a series of initiatives including dedicated family workers and a one-to-one intensive programme of support.
The charity has used the donation to help fund its annual Christmas party for local families and follows a similar donation from Amazon during Christmas 2016.
To celebrate the donation, members of the Amazon charity committee from the site in Peterborough visited Pen Green Children’s Centre in Corby.
During the visit, the Amazon team learned more about the work that Home-Start continues to carry out in the local community.
The Amazon team danced along to Christmas music, helped with festive decorations and tucked into mince pies with the volunteers from Home-Start, alongside some of the local families supported by the charity at its annual Christmas craft workshop.
Speaking on the donation, Amazon Peterborough general manager Lee Shepherd said: “Home-Start is a wonderful organisation that does vital work in our community not just at Christmas, but throughout the year.
“In 2016, we saw firsthand the impact of its work in Peterborough and we’re happy to be back again this year to lend a helping hand with the Christmas party.”
Kerry Walker, co-ordinator at Home-Start Corby, added: “We’re incredibly grateful to Lee and the team from Amazon for supporting us once again with this donation.
“It’s support like this that enables us to continue working hard for the vulnerable families in our community and helps us offer our services to those who need it most.
“Thank you to everyone at Amazon in Peterborough for their support.”
The ongoing support of Home-Start forms part of the ‘Amazon in the Community’ programme whereby the company supports the communities around its operating locations across the UK.
