Applicant Susan Dixon has laid out a plan for up to 57 dwellings on land at Harrington Road.

The plans would see a mixture of private and affordable homes on the site, which has been redundant for some time and was previously associated with an equestrian use.

A planning statement said: “This proposal is envisaged as a development which has a sense of character and identity relevant to its seƫtting and location making this new scheme attractive, coherent, legible and appropriate to its location.

“It will have simplicity of design and form which will integrate with the existing townscape in a sympathetic manner.”

The main access would be from Harrington Road with access to four of the dwellings through Orchard Close to the north and east.

The homes would be a mixture of two-bed, three-bed and four-bed houses and plans say the building of the development will provide employment opportunities for local traders and suppliers.

The plans added: “This site provides an opportunity to bring forward a very short term deliverable, attractive and sustainable residential development.”

A decision could be made by December 17.
