Aldi launches drive to recruit around 90 new staff in Northamptonshire

Bosses at budget supermarket brand Aldi are preparing to recruit around 90 people across Northamptonshire as a result of the firm's rapid expansion in the in the county.

A company spokesperson said the chain needs to employ 50 store and 10 stock assistants “immediately,” as well as 17 deputy and 12 assistant store managers for its stores in Harlestone Road and Kensington Close in Northampton as well as the recently opened outlet in Kingsthorpe and the store at Weston Favell.

The firm is also looking to take on employees at its Stanier Retail Park outlet in Kettering, which opened late last year.

Aldi says full training will be provided for store assistants over a six week period and roles will be available from between 15 to 30 hours a week. Salaries for those positions would start at £8.15 per hour and will rise to £8.40 an hour from February.

The chain says candidates for the store and stock assistant positions will need to have good numerical skills.

Store operations director for Aldi, Nicola Morgan, said: “Our portfolio of stores has increased across Northamptonshire, and because of this we now have an immediate need for store staff, from assistant store managers to stock assistants.

“We are looking to attract applicants from a diverse range of backgrounds, including supermarket, fast-food and clothing chains, who can demonstrate relevant retail experience, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.”

For its managerial positions an Aldi spokesperson said the firm is looking for candidates who have experience managing teams of at least eight people.
