Air Ambulance lands after serious crash involving two HGVs on M1 in Northamptonshire

An Air Ambulance has landed at the scene of a serious crash involving two HGVs on the M1 in Northamptonshire on Wednesday morning.

Traffic was stopped in both directions between Junction 16 and Junction 17 following the smash on the northbound side just after 9am.

Highways England revealed one of the artics involved in the crash has overturned and they expect two lanes northbound to be blocked, causing severe delays, until after noon.

UPDATE: One man has been rushed to hospital following M1 crashA spokesman said: "There is approx. three miles of congestion on approach northbound to this M1 incident. Please add an extra 30 minutes onto your journey time."

Northamptonshire Police and Fire & Rescue Services are also at the scene but no updates on the extent of injuries will be available for some time yet.
