Affordable homes to be built in Northamptonshire thanks to Government grant

Property developer Westleigh is to build 599 homes in the East Midlands, 29 of them in Northamptonshire thanks to grant funding from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA).

The HCA has provided just over £15.69m to the developer to build the affordable homes at 12 sites across the region. The majority of the homes will be made available to rent with some being offered through the government’s Shared Ownership scheme.

The investment is part of the HCA’s Affordable Homes Programme which aims to increase the supply of affordable housing in England. The funding will be paid directly to Westleigh by the HCA to deliver the identified schemes before the end of 2018.

In total the developer has secured just under £ 21m in grant funding from the HCA to provide 823 new homes across the East and West Midlands. Of which 564 of the properties will be provided for affordable rent with an additional 259 available through the Shared Ownership scheme.
