A Raunds woman says singing with music sensation Adele was a moment she “will never forget”.
Adele tribute Katie Markham, who sings under the name KT Star, was one of eight acts invited to celebrate the singer’s achievements by singing on Adele at the BBC on Friday, November 20.
They were joined by a ninth ‘act’ late on - who was later revealed to be the multi-award-winning singer herself.
But 33-year-old Katie, who has been singing full time since 2007, says she wasn’t fooled by the BBC’s efforts.
She said: “I got asked to come and take part in a pilot show and we had runners who could hear every word we said, which was a bit suspicious.
“They didn’t leave our side and then they said there was a technical difficulty, before the ninth act came on.
“She missed her cue and got flustered but as soon as she sang the first line I knew it was her - you can’t miss that voice.
“All of a sudden the cameras flipped and some of the others didn’t click, but I knew straight away and started singing with her.
“It was a dream come true and a moment I’ll never forget, she was so down to earth and gave us all a massive hug.
“I was stood by my absolute idol.
“I really like how she plays with her songs.”
Katie has been performing as an Adele tribute for almost four years and nearly made TV fame herself in 2013.
She reached the last seven of the Overs category on the X Factor, just missing out on the judges’ houses.
The show was eventually won by Sam Bailey, who Katie still keeps in contact with and works with.
And Katie says she wants to take her singing as far as possible.
She added: “There’s quite a big demand for Adele tributes and my work has taken me all over the world.
“I have sung in Ibiza and on cruises and was in Bahrain just last week.
“I also do a lot of other work singing cabaret and classical crossover.
“My aspiration is to take the tribute further and eventually take my singing as far as possible.”
Katie’s next Adele tribute is at The Gallery, Northampton, on Saturday, November 28.
