Officers said the man placed himself ‘in a position of danger’ on the Ditchford Road bridge.
They set up a rolling roadblock and traffic was delayed for about 15 minutes.
The road was cleared by 2.50pm.
A45 clear after man removed from bridge
Police took a man into custody this afternoon after he stopped traffic on the A45 near Rushden.
