The A14 has been reopened after a woman threatened to jump from a bridge into the road.

Police enforced a series of rolling roadblocks after receiving a call at about 12.45pm this afternoon (Monday, April 14).

The woman was reported to be on the bridge over the dual carriageway at junction seven.

Traffic leaving Kettering along Rothwell Road was directed down Gispy Lane rather than being allowed to continue to the A14.

A spokesman for Northamptonshire Police said the woman was recovered safely just after 1pm, with the A14 reopening shortly afterwards.

The spokesman confirmed the force had received a number of calls from members of the public concerned the woman was about to jump.
