27 Oundle School pupils will go to Oxbridge after another fantastic A-level performance.

Just under one in four grades being awarded A* or equivalent, continuing the school’s record of high achievement at this level.

Ten per cent of the grades for Pre-U subjects attracted the D1 grade, which represents a step above the equivalent A*.

20 per cent of pupils scored at least two A* grades, with stand-out results from William Brettle (four A*s and one D2), Magnus Jeffery, Ming Ting Lau and Edward Wilson (all three A* and one D1), and Winnie Liu (four A*s).

Pupil performance was strong across all subjects, notably in English, Mathematics, Latin, Greek, and Chemistry, where more than 30 per cent of all candidates secured A* grades or equivalent.

All candidates taking German this year secured the highest Distinction grades at Pre-U.

Head of Oundle School Sarah Kerr-Dineen said: “I am really delighted with the consistently strong performance of our pupils, with over 60 per cent once again receiving A* or A grades (or the Pre-U equivalent) and the vast majority going on to their university of first choice.”
