Students and staff at Tresham College of Further and Higher Education are celebrating after excelling in this year’s A-level exams.
The hard work and determination of students, coupled with dedicated support from teachers and a range of support staff, has led to good results for the college.
Out of 147 A2 Level entries across 19 different subjects, the overall pass rate this year is 96 per cent with 60 per cent of students achieving A* to C grades.
Students from the college’s sixth form centre are now confirming their places to study at universities across the country including Oxford University and other top universities in the country.
100 per cent pass rates at grades A* to C were achieved in film studies, media studies and drama.
Jermaine McEwan achieved one A* and three As and has already confirmed his place at Oxford University to study History.
He said after receiving his results: “I wanted to study A-levels in a more mature and independent setting, so Tresham was ideal.
“The tutors have been really supportive throughout my studies and also with my application to Oxford.
“I found writing a balanced personal statement to be the most challenging task, but was pleased with the end result.
“My Oxford application also meant that I had to sit an entrance exam and a formal interview, so the time spent practicing mock interviews with my tutors was really helpful.
“My long term career goal is to work in the field of investment banking and I have already started to make enquiries about possible internships and graduate programs in this area.”
Clare King, head of school for A-levels at Tresham, said: “This year we have our students achieving their best and confirming their university choices or gaining employment as a result of their commitment over the past two years and the support of some fantastic tutors and staff across the college.”
Stuart Wesselby, principal at Tresham College of Further and Higher Education, said: “I am pleased to see that the hard work and determination of so many of our students has paid off and they have achieved the results they need to take their next step whether that is university, higher apprenticeships or work.
“Congratulations to everyone that has worked hard and been committed to achieving such great success, well done.”
Tresham College of Further and Higher Education is still taking applications for the sixth form centre and for degree level courses starting in September, including HNC/D Graphic Design, HNC/D Music, HNC/D Performing Arts, HNC/D Photography, HNC/D Fashion and Textiles, HNC/D Engineering and HNC/D Sports.
