  • Children of different ages take on classic musical
  • Les Miserables is a tale of redemption
  • Youngsters also perform separate show with Disney songs

Youngsters from the local area are taking on some of the most iconic names and songs in entertainment history with two shows.

The Youth Theatre in Market Harborough is performing the epic musical Les Miserables and Disney Delights.

“We have a fantastically talented cast and crew bringing you the musical that you know and love. It’s going to be something very moving and special.”

Paul Williams

The classic musical, which was recently turned into a film starring Hugh Jackman, is set in early 19th-century France.

It is the story of Jean Valjean, a French peasant, and his quest for redemption after serving 19 years in jail for having stolen a loaf of bread for his sister’s starving child.

The show has been directed by Paul Williams, and this version is a special edition of the legendary musical.

He said: “We have a fantastically talented cast and crew bringing you the musical that you know and love. It’s going to be something very moving and special.”

As if that wasn’t work enough for the performers, they will also be getting ready for Disney Delights.

The show is a compilation show of all-time favourite Disney songs and some lesser-known gems, being brought to life by the company’s younger contingent.

The organisers of the event have said it is a show will lift your spirits and bring a smile to your face.

The Youth Theatre has now been running for 21 years and has won various regional awards. The company is renowned for bringing outstanding shows with a professional edge to the town.

Both shows are being staged at Welland Park Theatre in Market Harborough between Saturday, May 23, and Saturday, May 30. Ticket prices start from £5 each and there are family tickets.

They are available from Synergy Dancewear on St Mary’s Road from Tuesday to Saturday or by going online from www.ticketsource.co.uk/theyouththeatre. For more information call 07887895982. Tickets can also be bought on the door.
