Lakelands Hospice in Corby is hoping holiday-makers will help boost its funds.

It has teamed up with independent on-line travel agent Savvi Travel, which is based in the town, to launch a new scheme to raise much-needed cash. People are invited to join Lakelands Travel Club and for every holiday booked up, the hospice will receive a donation.

Savvi Travel’s sales director Dave Batley said: “As we are independent we have access to many tour operators which gives us a large selection of holidays from luxury long-haul to European and worldwide city breaks.

“We are delighted to be supporting Lakelands with this new venture.”

To help launch the travel club, Villa Select have offered a week’s stay in a luxury apartment as a prize.

To be in with a chance of winning, people can sign up to receive the travel club’s monthly newsletter until August 31 and the lucky winners will be announced in September. There is also a prize of seven nights in a luxury apartment for the first holiday booked through the club.

Lakelands community fundraiser Paul Marlow said: “We are really excited about the launch of the travel club.

“As well as giving our supporters great deals, it will also generate funds for the hospice. The prizes on offer to support the launch are really fantastic.”

Following the introduction of Lakelands’ Hospice at Home scheme, it must now raise in excess of £475,000 a year to pay for the services it provides for patients and their carers.
