Family Days Out: Laser Zap Attack

editorial image

A fairly new establishment in Kettering, Laser Zap Attack is tucked away at Unit 7 on Trafalgar Road, and gives you the opportunity to have fun hunting down your opponents!

Laser arenas seem to be as popular as ever with children and adults alike.

Laser Zap Attack caught my attention via Groupon where a 20-minute game and hot dogs for two people was on offer for just £9.

My eldest, Kai, has been to a few similar places before and was keen to go again.

Using a Groupon here is pretty straightforward – you’ll just need to show your voucher.

Either print it out or if you have the app on your phone, you can just show them this.

On this occasion, Kai and Ella met up with their two friends, who had also purchased the same Groupon.

On arrival the children were taken to the briefing room where they were guided through how to play – from knowing their player number (important when getting your scores printed out at the end of the game) to how to re-load their laser gun during play.

The briefing takes about five minutes after which point the children, along with five other players also taking part, were led to the ‘loading’ room where you put on your laser packs and pick up your laser guns.

Be prepared for lots of ‘smoke’ as your enter the loading room.

But don’t worry; it’s all part of the atmosphere.

The kids actually felt really excited at this point with Kai posing, pretending that he had already been zapped!

Each team wears different colour armour to make it easier to see who is on which team.

Once everyone is kitted out, you’ll enter the main arena to start the battle! Each game lasts for 20 minutes.

Unfortunately Ella ended coming out halfway through the game as she had been knocked over by a member of the opposing team.

Although she wasn’t injured apart from a sore leg and finger, she decided that she didn’t want to carry on playing – so it was now three against five in the game!

The boys, however, really enjoyed themselves (even though one had a minus score on their score sheet!)

There are plenty of seats outside the arena so you can sit down and relax having a drink while the kids play (there’s plenty of different hot and cold drinks on offer).

Within the seating area there is also a football table (50p a go) and a few driving arcade games.

The hot dogs that the kids had (free with our Groupon) were a decent size and were gone within minutes!

Everyone had a great time and the 20 minute duration of each game is a great way to introduce those new to playing laser tag.

Also available here is the chance to ride quad bikes (which takes place outdoors).

This option wasn’t available on the day of our visit but costs £5 for 15 minutes and needs to be booked in advance of your visit.
