Family Days Out: Berzerk soft play area

Escape the cold to the great indoors for family fun.

There are plenty of indoor play areas to visit if you’re looking for something to do on a rainy day or just want to head indoors.

But if you’re looking for great value, then head to Berzerk on the Moulton Park Estate on the outskirts of Northampton.

This was my latest destination for adventure with my three-year old, Ruby.

As ever she was excited about going somewhere new to have fun.

It was pretty easy to find although it took a few seconds to realise I needed to drive through the open metal gate to park and gain access – though this could purely be me not being used to the area itself.

Once you’ve parked, just head in through the door under the large Berzerk sign, where inside you’ll need to pay and sign in.

First impressions were good! It’s a pretty large space with plenty of different activities to keep children of all ages entertained.

From bouncy castles, ride-on cars, slides, mini-football pitch, climbing wall and climbing frames, there’ll be little boredom here.

In fact, Ruby was eager to get started with the fun and after taking off her jacket and shoes, she was off!

First up was the large bouncy castle which had Ruby in fits of giggles every time she fell over.

It was quite quiet when we arrived so there was plenty of space for her to jump about.

Next to the bouncy castle is a soft play area which has mini-slides and soft building blocks.

Here I helped Ruby stack the blocks up high for her to knock down, before building our own little ‘home’ out of the blocks.

This kept Ruby busy for quite a while as she loves playing ‘home’.

After a little while I managed to coax Ruby to go exploring on the climbing frames which was home to a big multi-laned slide (she would have been happy playing ‘home’ all day but I wanted her to experience all of the fun!)

So off we headed. Once we climbed to the top, we made our way to the slide and whizzed down it together.

Next up was the toy cars. Ruby hopped in and persuaded me to push her around – and there was plenty of floor space to do it too, which was great.

Every few minutes she made me stop the car, get out, and get in another car – only to make me whizz her around again!

After an hour’s play we decided to have a much-needed rest to have a drink and some lunch.

There is a cafe on site which sells a good selection of adult and child meals, as well as drinks – and at reasonable prices too.

Once we’d had lunch, we headed off for a final play before we had to leave.

And it was no surprise that Ruby wanted to go on the bouncy castle and cars again!

Overall we had a great visit and Ruby didn’t want to leave – always a good sign when visiting somewhere!

And another sign she enjoyed herself was the fact she fell asleep on the way home – no doubt dreaming about all the fun she had.
