Staff at a Wellingborough travel agents held a ‘Best of British’ cake sale and raffle to raise funds for a life-saving operation for a young cancer patient.
Workers at Thomas Cook, in the Swansgate centre, Wellingborough, held the fundraising day which raise £150 for Niamh’s Next Step.
The charity is raising funds for five-year-old Niamh Curry, who lives in town and has neuroblastoma.
Her parents Chris and Samantha are trying to raise £450,000 to take her to America in September, after doctors exhausted treatment options in the UK.
Stacey Holyomes, travel advisor at the branch, said: “We were really pleased with it and we are hoping to do some more things in the future to raise more money.
“I think every customer who came in bought a raffle ticket or a cake.
“We would like to thank everybody who put their hands in their pocket to support such a good cause.”
She added: “We were also trying to promote British holidays obviously the way the economy is a lot of people can’t afford to go abroad so we were trying to raise awareness of the great deals you can get in the UK.”
