Brave knights from all over the country will be bringing the medieval period to life when they visit Rockingham Castle at the weekend.
The jousting event takes place at the venue on Sunday June 21 with the knights from Nottingham and the Oxfordshire household making a thrilling return,
With baronial banners streaming and the glint of the sun on steel bladed swords and axes, the armoured knights will fight it out on horseback and on foot.
The Black Knight has come to do battle and he intends to win at any cost.
Out in the arena there will be displays by armour-clad warriors of sword and pike drill, skill-at-arms and combat prior to the jousters taking the field.
Anyone sitting in the audience is being urged to get involved with the action and cheer throughout the tournament.
For those looking for something a little more gentle than jousting, there will be plenty of activities away from the jousting arena at Rockingham Castle.
A fire-eating display, jester will be in the grounds to wot the audience.
There is also a story-telling for children and adults are all set to entertain you.
For those interested in the Medieval lifestyle, the Oxford Household re-enactors will also be presenting a Living History Village display.
The re-enactors will be displaying a wide range of skills and craftsmanship of the period. This includes things such as leather-working, weaving and weapon making.
A spokesman for Rockingham Castle said: “This is a wonderful day out where the whole family can be a part of bringing the past to life in a most colourful and fun-filled way.”
There is also a licensed tearooms offer a takeaway service as well as the waitress-service restaurant. Families can bring along a picnic to eat in the grounds.
The gates and tearoom open at noon with the castle opening at 1pm. The entertainment will start at noon with the jousting commencing at 2.30pm.
