Open gardens and events across Northamptonshire

Here is a list of some of the forthcoming garden events taking place in the county.

Artists will be welcomed to Kelmarsh Hall next month when Maureen Smith hosts a “Painting in the Garden” event.

The event takes place between 1pm and 2pm on August 14. The cost per person is £5, which includes basic materials.

Those taking part are asked to bring their own seat and other materials. To book call 01604 686543 or email events@

There is a chance to meet the gardeners at Canons Ashby in a special event on Sunday.

The garden team will be on hand between 11.30am and 3.30pm to give horticultural tips.

Similar meetings will be held on the last Sunday of each month until October. The event is free but normal admission charges apply.

Maggie Lloyd, a previous winner of Northampton In Bloom and a runner-up in The Daily Mail National competition, is opening up her garden.

It will be open from 1pm to 5pm on both days. She will be selling refreshments and plants. Proceeds will be donated to Help for Heroes. Entry is £2.50.

Froggery Cottage, 85 Breakleys Road, Desborough, NN14 2PT – A plantsman’s garden full of rare and unusual plants. Artefacts on display include old ploughs and garden implements. Open 11.30am-6.30pm.
