£500,000 farm plot has planning permission for unique four-bed family home

Fancy taking on your own Grand Design and building this eco-friendly 'house of the future' on farmland near Towcester.

But you might need deep pockets to fulfill the dream as local estate agents Michael Graham are selling a building plot for half-a-million quid which comes with planning permission for a huge four-bedroom house.

And they estimate the bill will be another £750,000 for the building work — but for that you do get your own cinema room and ultra-low energy bills.

Under-floor heating is solar powered and rainwater is recycled to help the environment.

The land at Church Stowe — just off the A5 between Weedon and Pattishall — is currently home to a couple of farm buildings which will be demolished to make way for the dwelling.

Richard Irlam, director at Michael Graham, said: "The design is the result of two years of architecture and landscape designed development, site analysis and assessment of the visual impact alongside environmental design and assessment.

"Our client's architects have designed an exceptional dwelling which will extend to approximately 5,400 square feet in total set in a two-acre plot surrounded by retained mature trees.

"All the external walls will be formed of structural insulated panels, an energy-efficient design resulting in increased insulation value providing a stable temperature in both summer and winter. All in all, it significantly exceeds requirements set out by the current building regulations for energy usage.

"And the detailed sketches show the full extent of open plan living, separate reception rooms and a bedroom wing behind triple-glazed windows."

Architects have also provided a central open-air courtyard for Al fresco dining, a double garage, plant and storage rooms incorporated into the overall design.

All appliances will be A-rated for water efficiency and a green roof absorbs all but the heaviest of rainfall.
