Housebuilder Barratt has taken its first steps to kick-start Northamptonshire's property market by unlocking doors on show homes at five developments in the county.

Viewings at sales offices are strictly by appointment only, though, with only one household visiting one property at any one time.

Locally, Barratt and David Wilson Homes South Midlands and Barratt and David Wilson Homes Northampton has reopened its developments at The Avenue, Overstone; The Wickets, Earls Barton; The Nurseries, Thrapston; Bertone Manor, Barton Seagrave and Lyveden Fields, Corby.

Barratt Developments chief executive David Thomas said: “We back the government’s decision to unlock the property market which will help to drive the country’s economic recovery.

"We are doing this safely with clear measures in place that protect our customers and employees as we carefully re-open our sales offices.”

Barratt's move follows a phased restart of construction work last week with around 180 sites in England and Wales reopening – 50 per cent of the total – with more to follow.

Latest Government guidelines allowing people to move home gave 450,000 people nationwide the green light to take plans off hold and Barratt has spent the last few weeks of the lockdown carefully designing protocols and procedures so that it would be ready.

To enable customers to visit sales centres and show homes, a range of safety measures and new working procedures which meet or exceed government, industry and public health agency advice have been put in place. These include protective Perspex screens, retractable barriers, strict social distancing and PPE where necessary, plus intercom systems and door locks to enable customers to engage with sales teams before entering offices.

New buyers can contact their local sales office for more details on developments and visit the Barratt and David Wilson Homes websites HERE to book an appointment.
