Free football sessions are on offer to young children in Northamptonshire to introduce kids to the game for the first time, regardless of gender or ability.

The McDonald’s Fun Football Centres are designed to give physical activity to thousands of children aged five to 11 across the country in line with coronavirus guidelines.

McDonald's franchisee Glyn Pashley said: “It’s an honour to bring these sessions back to Northampton this autumn.

"I’ve supported local grassroots football for a long time and know how important it is to get kids playing again, socialising and being active.

"Through our Fun Football programme we are proudly providing five million hours of football for children and introducing more than half a million new players to the game by 2022.”

The Fun Football Centres give kids who have missed out on sport and peer-to-peer interaction over the past five months a chance to safely enjoy football.

The curriculum includes introductory activities perfect for children with no footballing experience, helping them develop their all-round skills, get active and make new friends.

Registration for the Fun Football Sessions is now open at mcdonalds.co.uk/funfootball.

There is also the option to order a Fun Football activity book, enabling children chart their progress with a series of stickers and creative games.
