Rothwell pub changes name to The Three Lions ahead of football tournament

A pub in Rothwell has changed its name in support of the England football team ahead of the European Football Championships.

The Red Lion has announced the name change to help regulars get behind Roy Hodgson’s team this summer.

The pub has substituted its traditional Red Lion signage to The Three Lions, with the imagery featuring England captain and Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney, Premier League top-scorer Jamie Vardy and Chelsea centre-back Gary Cahill.

All references to the Red Lion, both inside and outside the pub, have been replaced with The Three Lions until England exit the tournament.

The pub was picked by Northampton-based Carlsberg as part of its ‘Pubstitutions’ campaign.
