Pupils at Sir Christopher Hatton Academy have been rewarded for their literacy efforts.

Year 7 pupils Nat Birch, Kyle Charlton, Dhara Beckhra, Tommy Jenkins and Farham Chowdhury qualified for the final of the Wellingborough school’s spelling bee contest, which it runs to give pupils a chance to improve their spelling.

Year 10 and 11 students Piumi Nikawala Widanalage, Varsha Dash, Nerissa Fearon, Daniel Cumley and Jazmine Codrington made it through to the Oundle Festival of Literature final.

Teacher Keren Gunn said: “It is a great sense of achievement and opportunity for our students in reaching this level of recognition for their creativity.”
