This 300-year-old Manor House is just five miles from Wellingborough .. and could be yours if you have £10m to spare

Built in 1710, historic Hinwick House was modelled on the original Buckingham Palace

Fancy buying a 300-year-old Queen Anne Manor House restored to all its former glories, with 12 bedrooms, smothered in history and just five miles from Wellingborough?

All you need is around £10million and Hinwick House, just along the road between the Northamptonshire village of Wollaston and Santa Pod, could be yours.

The magnificent Grade One listed Queen Anne Manor House is set in approximately 37 acres of parkland — room for around 28 football pitches — with a private walled garden, stream and two ornamental lakes.

There is a Great Hall, Victorian wing, three turret cottages and four staff flats. Other outbuildings include garages, stables, a magnificent 18th century clock tower and an ancient dovecote.

The asking price? £8,500,000 — plus another £933,000 stamp duty and all the usual extras.

Clare Goldsmid, of property agents Savills, said: "The family that currently owns Hinwick House believe that they are simply the current custodians of great piece of England's incredible heritage.

"It must therefore be preserved with great loving care so that the generations to come may derive the same joy from their beauty as those that have done so before them."

Hinwick House was built in 1710 for the aristocratic Orlebar family and modelled on the original Buckingham Palace. It has stayed a private family residence and is up for sale for only the third time in those 310 years after two years undergoing an extensive, two-year restoration.

The present house was finished in 1714 and the Victorian Wing added in 1859. The original 'bell board' used to summon staff to various parts in the house is still there.

Many valuable works of art and antiques connected with Hinwick have been traced to collections across the world, re-purchased and returned to their original place at the house.

Other features includes one of the largest collections of over 150 priceless antique Persian rugs, seven custom-made crystal grand chandeliers and period furniture — including pieces from the collection of Althorp, the original family home of Princess Diana.
